When to go
You can access this area most of the year but it is in the
mountains and the nights can be bitter cold so come prepared.
A warm sleeping bag is a must!

Fall is an especially gorgeous time to visit.

In winter there are some warm days and also cold and snowy
days.
What to do there
BBQ, Camping, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Swimming,

From the campground lodge, head up toward the rocks and you will
find enough rock to keep the most avid climber busy for years.
There are lots of bolts and some trad climbs too. Bring a basic rack.

I was never much for climbing guides and you really don`t need one
if you pick your climbs carefully.  Rock climbing has a lot of universal
language so if you find some other climbers chances are you will be
able to get aall the beta you need.

You can also check out a great English site on line
www.ogawayama.com  and  also try looking up Japanese sites and
using a translation program such as GOOGLE or BABEL FISH

Where to stay
There is a decent campground here and a lodge.  There are also
some Onsen resorts witihin commutable distance but nothing
close or convienient.  Id highy recommend staying at the the
campground or if you prefer a lodge stay right there at the lodge
but its only open seasonally so do your homework be fore you
rely on it..

Where to Eat
Your best bet is a nice BBQ.  There is no stores nearby, not
even a convenience store.  There is a
small grocery store in the valley about a 10 or 15 minute drive
from the campground

Travel JAPAN!
Ogawayama Japan's Yosemite

It's a bit tricky to get there from Tokyo but it is well worth it.  The
scenery is spectacular! Especially
in the fall, and the hiking and rock climbing are world class!
There is also some great swimming
holes.

I often hear it compaired to Yosemite but in truth it is more like a
lush green version of the Black
Hills of South Dakota.
